Resurge

Thisavrou's revival mechanism relies on a transfer: an entity using the most recent link formed by the Ingress energy to pull characters-as-they-were to the present day. Consequently, the default death penalty is a loss of anything that happened in the intervening period: the time between this interaction with the Ingress energy and now. Interactions include direct contact, world travel, or (at player discretion) prolonged proximity to a channel such as the Ingress shrines or memorial.

As the last visit or travel date is a matter of player choice, the duration of this loss is flexible—as (to a degree) is its permanency. For a first death, you have the following options:

1. (For a base memory loss of at least three days) The character's revival is otherwise seamless, resulting in no damage to body or mind. However, they will have no signs or memories of the lost experiences, and will not regain them in the future.

2. (For a shorter base duration) The character's revival is relatively seamless, but being drawn from a point so close to death will bring some trauma along for the ride. They will acquire a significant and lasting phobia associated with the event, with its severity determined by how close to the death they were pulled back from. (i.e. two-and-a-half-days' loss and being consistently unsettled in dark places versus a-few-hours' loss and being reduced to immediate panic attacks when the lights go out). As above, what time is lost will stay lost.

3. (For a base memory loss of at least three days) A character's revival is initially seamless, and comes with the loss of time as described above. However, within a period of five days, they encounter a trigger that awakens a connection to the events of their death. This can be exposure to the corpse, a similar scenario to the one that resulted in death, or anything appropriate to the character. When this happens, they will experience traumatic flashbacks to their death, regaining both glimpses of the missing time and physical echoes of the harm they took. (ex. a broken limb for death by physical trauma.)

To submit a character death, please will out this form and post as a comment.

Refresh

Canon updating your character is OOCly simple, though the in-universe explanation may prove complicated. Your character will fall into a brief coma for three days while their mind and body refresh to the new canon point. During this interval, they will be kept in cryogenic stasis in the Medical Wing.

Submit a comment using the form below, which asks for basic information and an updated description of the canon and character.

At whatever point Erik most recently visited the Ingress remnants or traveled through a portal, they will have experienced an unusual phenomenon. First, a warmth: connection, peace. An amplification of the usual strange stirrings that Ingress travel can bring. Next, a wash of silver light. Last, a call: not as a voice or words, but sentiments, drawn clear with painful effort.

"Stay. Come. You you (all of you) you have to—"

Meaning unravels to a swamping, massive pull. After joining with the motion, willingly or otherwise, they will feel as if stepping through a door—and then will have done so. Erik will enter the between space with the others on March 5, and be transported with the rest of their allies. Initially, they will possess no memories of anything since their pre-death exposure to Ingress energy.

As you selected Option 3, Erik will initially revive physically and mentally whole. However, after a period no longer than five days, they will encounter a stimulus that reconnects them with the event of their death. This can be exposure to the corpse, a similar scenario to the one that resulted in death, or anything appropriate to the character. When this happens, they will experience traumatic flashbacks both physical and mental, resulting in a power impediment--Erik will find his control over magnetism lessened compared to what it was previously.

Over the week following their death, the marks that appeared during their exposure to the storms' energy will also reappear, though more sparsely than before. However, they will experience no other signs of transformation.

Note: As you requested no tattoos for your penalty, please feel free to have the marks manifest as scarring instead.
