Locations: Sanitation and Life Support
| SANITATION AND LIFE SUPPORT |
The underbelly and infrastructure of the inhabited decks, Life Support and Sanitation are without a doubt Avagi's most crucial region—if, perhaps, not one most people would spend time in. The bulk of the maintenance here is performed by taskbots, but humanoid trespassers should still take care. The machinery on this level provides for everything from station temperature to station air.
Life support systems are run primarily through a control station below the 🙀 housing sector. The control room itself has been heavily secured: biolocks on the door rigged to a specific set of signatures, with shock measures in place should someone try to brute-force their way in. Electrified paneling is also in place on the interior. A few smaller entry ports permit taskbot travel in and out, but humanoid entry appears discouraged. At least, unless one reads the sign on the doorway: a request for additional help maintaining systems, directing all interested parties to contact Nihlus Kryik over their ACE.
The rest of the region is much less secured—and much more expansive. A combination of sewage, air filtration, power, and heating, the narrow corridors press up into the floors above, and feed more directly to the ventilation shafts that run throughout Avagi. As in the pedestrian spaces, certain paths have remained sealed for a century or more, but others bear signs of habitation... pleasant or otherwise. A variety of large tanks can be found throughout the region, and while they visually seem well-sealed, the smells are numerous and awful. Recent efforts have been made to fill the region with air freshening devices, but this has had limited effect.
As of January 2018, Sanitation faces new difficulties: mold, dampness, and questionable mud from that month's flooding. Some of the machinery has begun to make odd sounds, though whether the issues are related is currently unclear.
